Sphero R2-D2 App-Enabled Droid

What is it?
Sphero R2-D2 is a small copy of, perhaps, the most famous droid from the legendary Star Wars saga. The toy in the smallest details repeats the appearance of the original robot, is equipped with a speaker and LED lights, can drive along a given route and patrol the territory on its own. Droid Spero R2-D2 is controlled by a smartphone with a preinstalled application, connecting to it via Bluetooth, and has a built-in battery for an hour of play.

The droid in the smallest details repeats the exterior of this R2-D2 with the only difference that its growth is only 17 centimeters and the weight is 370 grams. The case in the form of a dumpster is made of polycarbonate and painted in white and blue colors, all the ventilation holes, buttons and indicators are located just like the original droid from the movie.

How it works?
R2-D2 is controlled by the voice or smartphone or tablet, to which you must first install the application Star Wars App-Enabled Droids by Sphero. With a mobile gadget, the toy communicates via Bluetooth with a range of about 30 meters. In addition, the new droid is compatible with the Force Band bracelet, which can be used as a controller.

Sphero R2-D2 is not just a moving model. The functions that the toy demonstrates are impressive: the droid stands on two legs, and for the movement lowers the third, its head rotates 360 degrees, it dances in place, emits the same beeps as in the movie, and even expresses them emotions that can be selected in the application. R2-D2 moves both according to the previously created route in the application, and in patrol mode. In patrol mode, the droid randomly travels around the apartment, exploring the territory.

All the Sphero droids from the Star Wars line can recognize each other, as well as films with their participation. Currently the list of recognizable films includes such episodes as “Izgoy-One”, “Awakening Force” and “Episode IV: New Hope”. Also, R2-D2 supports the “Augmented Reality” mode, which is activated in the mobile application. In this mode, the droid projects the image of the ship “Millennium Falcon” on the wall, the picture can be seen by sending to the place of translation the camera of the smartphone.

The droid is equipped with a speaker and produces the same squeaking, whistling and crackling sounds, like the original character of the star saga. No replacement of batteries is required for the robot: R2-D2 has a built-in lithium-ion battery, which is sufficient for about an hour of play. The droid is charged with a USB cable from the PC for several hours.
